About this programme
In 2020 the whole world faced the COVID-19 pandemic. In Sri Lanka it upended everyday life: people lost their jobs and struggled to make a living, and farmers, fishers and labourers saw their incomes collapse. What came next was a fight against hunger.
People who lived from day to day faced not only the fear of illness but hunger as well. Out of the shock we felt in that moment, our food donation programme was born.
At a time when people and institutions were cut off from one another, food packs were delivered to 500 families through personal donations. Being able to ease the hunger of hundreds of families, even for a while, was a great privilege.
